Bob McKay's Fish Flies grew out of Milt McKay's Old Trout Fly Fishing School, in Ottawa Ontario, Canada. Milt was a world-renowned fly fisher, fly tier and teacher who loved the sport, the outdoors and loved to spin a good fishing tale. He nurtured young minds as a scout-master, traveled the world as a professional fishing guide, as well as writing numerous manuals, and how-to books on tying flies. With over 25 years experience under his belt he decided to open The Old Trout Fly Fishing School to share his experience and vast knowledge with others, and to provide Ottawa Valley fly fishers with quality fly fishing equipment and accessories. There aren't very many in the sport who didn't know Milt and/or learn from him.
With a life-long passion for fishing, and a strong business background, I joined Milt in 1997 as office manager. I learned the finer arts of fly tying, casting, rod repairs, rod building and was soon tying flies professionally. I also helped teach classes and seminars. In 2000 Milt passed away, the "Old Trout" was gone, and fly fishing would never be the same again. To honour Milt, the Old Trout name was retired but the business continued, becoming Fish Flies, an on-line store selling quality fly fishing equipment, fly tying materials, rod building supplies, accessories and more. Pricing, Customer Service, and Return Policies

Our aim is to provide the highest quality Fly Fishing equipment, Fly tying materials and rod building materials and supplies shopping service available within Canada, and we will treat customers and competitors alike with respect, honesty and good humour at all times. Whether your priority is competitive prices, exceptional customer service, extensive product knowledge, a wide range of products in stock, a realistic return policy or fast and reasonably priced shipping, we will do our best to provide it all from one Proudly Canadian location.

Fish Flies will not sell, lease, rent or otherwise distribute your personal information to a third party for any purpose unless authorized by you. Information you provide when ordering is used to process your order and to correspond with you; we do not send unsolicited advertising material. Fish Flies web site contains links to other sites; Fish Flies is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such linked sites.

Any item (except special order items or opened packages) may be returned for full credit or exchange within 30 days of receipt if returned to us in as new condition. For a full refund to apply the item itself, all packaging, manuals and original accessories must not be marked or damaged in any way. Items that are not in as-new condition will be charged a 15% restocking fee. You MUST contact us for a Return Authorization Number (see below) within the 30 days. Any refund will not include shipping charges, and you are responsible for return shipping charges.

Items, which are found to be defective within 30 days of the shipment date, may be returned to us in exchange for a new item. Defective software products may be exchanged for the same item only. The replacement item can be sent to you at no charge when we receive the defective item, or, if you prefer, we can send you a replacement immediately (subject to availability) -- this option would require us to charge your credit card and then issue a refund upon receipt of the defective item. You are responsible for all return shipping costs to Fish Flies. Canada Post ships all returns to you at no charge to you. If you wish to upgrade the shipping method you may pay the difference between our standard method and the method of your choice.

After 30 days from shipment date, the terms of the manufacturer's warranty apply.

A restocking fee of 15% will be charged on return of any item that has been specially ordered for you (to cover charges to us for return of the item).

brook trout  Return Procedures:                                                                                          
Please call 1-613-270-8221 for a Return Authorization Number before returning any items to us. Return authorizations are valid for 10 business days, and the RAN number must appear clearly on a copy of your Receipt enclosed with the return. All original packaging and its COMPLETE contents must be returned in as-new, unmarked and undamaged condition, or a 15% restocking fee will be charged. We reserve the right to refuse a return on any product that does not meet these requirements. Please use a return shipping method that issues tracking or identification numbers, so that you can be assured that the item has been received by our Returns Department. Once we receive your return, we will issue a refund within 7 days, by mail or original credit card. Shipping and Handling Fees are not refundable, unless an order has been incorrectly shipped by Fish Flies.
